Our staff

The Department of Labour employs approximately 2,000 staff in New Zealand and offshore, with a wide range of professional skills, knowledge and experience to support New Zealanders' working lives. Roles include: mediators; health and safety inspectors; labour inspectors; immigration officers; border staff and risk and intelligence analysts; settlement and refugee services staff; policy advisers and analysts; researchers; legal advisers and statutory officers of related Courts and Authorities.

These staff are based in 17 locations around New Zealand, and 18 overseas offices, plus some Department staff based in international posts run by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
